AFS ‘On Our Screen’ Presents: “Gallipoli” [1981 / Peter Weir / 110 minutes] – November 19th

The Aurora Film Society brings “Gallipoli” to the screen at The Venue (21 S. Broadway) on November 19th at 7pm.

“Gallipoli”is a war movie about two young Australian sprinters, Archy Hamilton and Frank Dunne, who become friends and enlist in the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps during World War I.  The film follows their journey from a footrace in Western Australia to the brutal and tragic Gallipoli campaign in Turkey, where they lose their youthful innocence amidst the futility of war. The story culminates in the disastrous Battle Of Nek and explores themes of Australian identity, friendship, and the loss of innocence.
