The Aurora Film Society (AFS) was formed in September 2017 by a group of Aurorans all committed to cinema. The AFS recognizes and is committed to the notion of the city center as the hub of cultural collaboration. The group has been formed to serve as an educational, social, and local resource that provides a shared cinematic cultural experience based in the city center.

AFS will screen a different movie each month at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum and offer subscribers/members a choice of Group “A” (Third Thursday of each month) or Group “B” (Typically the fourth Thursday of each month). The aim is to show smart films that deserve greater attention or sometimes great films that are due for re-examination. Our informal slogan is, “Movies you didn’t know you needed to see”.

AFS is an organization that promotes public appreciation of under-represented films and as such, the IRS has recognized AFS as a 501 (c) 3 charity.
