The Aurora Film Society brings “Network” to the screen at The Venue (21 S. Broadway) on February 25th at 7pm.
When veteran news anchor Howard Beale suffers a nervous breakdown live on the air, his ranting becomes a sensation as well as a ratings bonanza. The network is quick to exploit Beale’s fractured state of mind, reinventing him as a “mad prophet of the airwaves” and building new programs that push the limits of good taste and decency.
Written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet, “Network” is a scathing indictment of America’s obsession with mass media that’s only become more relevant in the 50 years after its release.
Join us on February 25th at The Venue. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film begins shortly after 7 p.m. The screening is open to subscribers and box office ticket holders. Attendees who wish to purchase a one-time ticket for this show may reserve a ticket on this site under the Box Office tab for a donation of $10 or may pay via The Venue’s Eventbright link on their website.
